The topic “cheapest iPhone in history” is trending today on Chinese social network Weibo. But that doesn’t necessarily mean Apple’s new 4-inch iPhone SE is what most Chinese consumers want.
Chinese iPhone buyers chose the one-fifth of last year's 4-inch device, the rest choose larger, more expensive iPhone CK Lu, an analyst at market research firm Gartner said. This means that although there is a healthy market, such as Apple's biggest iPhone SE devices outside the American market, it is almost impossible in the country blockbuster. East phone fans tend to be larger smartphone screens, better watch Korean soap operas.
Apple vice president Greg Joswiak acknowledged that most customers prefer the big phone, he introduced the iPhone SE Monday. But he said the four-inch device will remain an important part of the business, Apple sold 30 million last year.
